Backings snug up against the back of the ear (hidden from view), and keep the earrings securely in place. Mother of pearl is not only beautiful, it is strong and lightweight! These amazing hoops are big, but they're light-weight and do not tug on the ear. 18 gauge brass ear-stem is made for all standard size piercings.

Mother of pearl is a smooth shining iridescent substance forming the inner layer of some shells. It is strong, resilient, and iridescent. Since Mother of pearl is made by nature, each pair is unique; the color of this batch of mother of pearl earrings is bright white on one side of each earring, and light antique golden on the other side. The unique organic beauty of each pair of earrings is dazzling. All pairs are matched to nicely mirror one another on the ears.

because it has a buffing compound on one side of the cloth to help clean off oxidation.
Mother of Pearl can be cleaned with soap and water when needed. Wipe earrings with polishing cloth after use and store in a plastic zip-lock to protect from dirt, oils, and oxidization.
