GENERAL CARE
These hoops are perfect for those who love lightweight, comfortable earrings that can be worn continuously for days or even weeks at a time. To keep them in great condition, be sure to follow the included "How to Open" instructions.
If you prefer to remove your earrings every evening, these may not be the best choice, instead choose one of our styles with a hinge closure.

SILVER CARE
Our silver jewelry is made from solid .925 sterling silver — no plating. Sterling silver is durable and designed to last a lifetime with minimal care. Silver can be worn 24/7, but exposure to moisture, sweat, and chemicals (like perfumes or lotions) can speed up tarnish. Tarnish is a harmless layer of surface oxidation and won’t damage your jewelry. It can be easily removed with a polishing cloth (included with every silver order).

To maintain shine and minimize tarnish:
– Polish regularly
– Clean gently before storing
– Keep in a dry place (a small ziplock bag works wonders)

GOLD CARE
These earrings are crafted with a thick, high-quality layer of 18K gold plating for long-lasting beauty. While gold-plated jewelry is a durable and affordable alternative to solid gold, it's natural for any plated finish to show wear over time—especially with frequent use. Here's some helpful info and care instructions to get the most out of your earrings and their beautiful finish:

Understanding the Layers:
Gold Plating (3 microns of 18K gold): This is a relatively thick layer for plated jewelry—typical fashion jewelry might only use 0.5 to 1 micron. At 3 microns, you're getting a high-end, longer-lasting finish.

Electrocoating: This is a transparent polymeric coating that adds a protective barrier. Think of it like a clear raincoat for your jewelry—it shields the gold from direct exposure to air, moisture, and skin oils.

Wear Expectations with 24/7 Use:
Even with these protections, several factors impact the longevity of the plating:

Friction: If the earrings rub against things frequently (e.g., when sleeping or wearing headphones), the wear accelerates. Tip: a silk pillowcase will reduce friction when sleeping!

Chemical exposure: Showering, swimming, or using lotions and perfumes can still break down even a coated layer over time.

Body chemistry: Natural skin acidity varies between individuals, which can influence how quickly gold plating wears off.

With 3 microns of gold and electrocoating, worn 24/7, you can expect the plating to last around 1 to 2 years before noticeable fading, especially at high-contact areas like the posts or edges. If worn more occasionally or removed during sleep, bathing, and exercise, this could extend to 3+ years.

If your goal is to wear them 24/7 i'd recommend regularly applying an extra layer of sealant to the earrings. The easiest and cheapest option is Jewelry Shield - available online and sometimes in jewelry supply / craft stores. If you choose to use Jewelry Shield, gently clean the earrings with mild soap and water, then pat dry with a plain microfiber cloth. Jewelry Shield is applied just like nail polish:

1. Lay the earring flat and apply a thin coat to one entire side.
2. Allow it to dry for 20–60 minutes.
3. Flip the earring over and apply a coat to the other side.
4. Reapply every few weeks for 24/7 wear.

Important: Do not clean the earrings with anything other than mild soap and water before or after applying the sealant.
